Q What is the VOICEYE symbol?
A The VOICEYE symbol consists of encoded and compressed digital text information together with its corresponding file. It can be created simply with the VOICEYE Maker.
Q What is the advantage of the VOICEYE symbol over other existing codes?
A None of the other existing codes are like the AD code in terms of compression ratios. The compression ratio is nearly 10 times better than other comparable codes. The superior 2D bar code technology, which stores more data than any other similar technology, enables the VOICEYE symbol to hold as much text data on a 1.5cm by 1.5cm matrix as two A4 pages.
Q How are VOICEYE symbols created?
A VOICEYE Symbols are remarkably easy to create using the VOICEYE Maker software, which is installed as a MS Word plug-in. Load existing text into MS Word or create your own text in MS Word and click ""Create a VOICEYE symbol for each page."" on the menu bar. The VOICEYE Maker will generate VOICEYE symbols to represent the files. The VOICEYE symbol can now be printed with its corresponding file at the standardized location.
Q How can existing books that do not have VOICEYE symbols be readable by the VOICEYE Player?
A Basically, books without VOICEYE symbols cannot be read by the VOICEYE player. The only way around this is to create labels using the Label Creation function that comes with the VOICEYE Maker.
Q How big is the storage capacity of a VOICEYE symbol?
A The VOICEYE symbol is particularly useful because it can hold as much as two A4 pages, or about 6 KB. It can store even more than that if you increase the resolution of the VOICEYE symbol with a high quality printer.
Q How do the blind know where to find the VOICEYE symbol?
A The symbol can be printed anywhere, but as of now it is intended to be printed in the right top margin of a page to provide visually impaired people easy access to printed material. Also, its size will be standardized at 1.5cm by 1.5cm
Q How do I know if the VOICEYE Scanner has captured the VOICEYE symbol properly?
A If you put the VOICEYE Scanner on the right top corner of a printed page, the VOICEYE Scanner captures the VOICEYE symbol automatically. Therefore, you don't need to press the button on the top of the VOICEYE Scanner. If the VOICEYE Can fails to capture the VOICEYE symbol, you will hear the alert message.
